I think it's Thursday

Days and time seem to go right out the window when we convert to a 3-hour day. By that I mean that every three hours we are involved in the process of waking, changing and feeding. Two times over. They are just about on steady patterns now, almost to the point where one of them has to wait their turn in order to get to the feeding station. Mandy did try to feed both of them at the same time - no pictures of that gents - but its a bit more of an ordeal than its worth. And, Simone kept kicking her brother in the head, although he didn't seem to mind.

I must give a long overdue mention to Mandy's step-dad Mike. He made a beautiful dresser that doubles as a changing table for the twins. When Mandy's mom came back down the second time she most graciously brought it with her. It is a solid piece of wood, as my friends Jeff and David can attest to, but it is sure to stay with them for many, many years. We will treasure his handicraft, which has already served to keep us a bit more organized.

We've also had the pleasure of receiving some visitors this past week. Mandy's uncle Jay, aunt Desiree and two cousins Cassie and Nikki came to visit, and not only did they enjoy their time with the babies, but Mandy and I enjoyed their scrumptious enchilada casserole for many evenings. The girls were so much fun with the babies; Nikki said she wanted to be a mom, and when Desiree told her she would someday, Nikki replied, "no, now." Ahhh, it seems our children have that effect on people, no matter how young.They also brought a plate of chocolate-blueberry muffins that have served as excellent midnight snacks!


Sossy, my 'other mother' and an honorary grandmother to the twins came by as well, and brought us cheese turnovers, of which I ate a few upon her arrival. She was so content to hold the babies - I think even more so to hold Simone as she had three boys of her own - and we were astonished at how quickly they fell asleep in her arms after their feedings. Her son Haig - who I've known since preschool - reminded us that she was a pro; having to deal with him is no easy task!

Simone had her last home health visit early this week, and she weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz. While she had the scale out we put Graham on it and he came in at just under 6 pounds. He is just about too big for his preemie clothes now, and she is beyond them. They are healthy babies through and through, and we couldn't be happier! Well, about that sleep thing. . .
