Rambles & Run-ons: NOW WITH 100% MORE PASSENGERS!

Our Lives Have Changed. So has our blog.
We realize that many of you first started reading when we began a cross-country road trip in June of '09. Just ten months later we are proud to announce the arrival of our twins. No road trips planned just yet, but there are a slew of adventures around every corner.

Wednesday, 4/28

I know many of you were expecting me to go back on my statement from yesterday that parenting is a breeze. I got lucky the first night, you were thinking, and it wouldn't happen again.
But here's what many of you don't know.
I, Robert the Elder, was the most calm, easy-going and simple baby in the world.
My mama told me so.
So its only natural that Robert the Younger would be the same.
And I finally have someone to watch soccer games with. Although, as you can see in the picture, he doesn't do much watching, but he does enjoy snoozing on my chest as I watch the games. He's been truly amazing. He had his 2-day pediatrician check-up today, and he continues to gain weight.
He is doing better at sleeping in the crib, as we found that he enjoys long sleeves and his legs bundled. We've taken to letting him sleep in a zip-front sleeper, and because most of his clothes are a bit roomy, we tie the legs off, turning it into a sleep-sack. He appears more content with this arrangement, but of course he still prefers to fall asleep in our arms or at least on a pillow in our lap.

My parents brought us dinner (for the second time this week!) on Wednesday and hung out for a while. Graham's grandpa got to hold him for the first time and really enjoyed it. Almost as much as Mandy and I enjoyed the dinner!

Late in the evening, after she had fed Robert Graham, Mandy paid Oneta Simone a visit. Mandy happily reported that she has been able to take 14ccs of food (up from 11) and has become more regular in her digestion.

Mandy spent some time reading Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland (how's that for a kids story, Melissa!) to her, which she seemed to enjoy very much. There is nothing as stimulating as nonsense. From the pictures she brought back, it looks like mother and daughter had a good time together. She is awake for longer periods than he is, and it makes for a good visit.

At one point, Simone began rooting as if she wanted to take a nipple so Mandy gave her a pacifier and she began sucking on it. She asked the nurses if they would begin bottle feeding her anytime soon, and they said that if she was showing signs of wanting to then they would begin very soon. I'd like to reiterate my theory of her success: she's going to hit the ground running and be home soon. She's going to be home soon. She's going to be home soon. She's going to be home. . . SOON.
